Community Outreach
Manhattan Academy, true to the Montessori way, strives to instill in students an awareness of and a gratitude for all they have received. In return, students show a responsibility to “give back” to those around them. Activities that promote this sense of responsibility are in place here at MA. Especially during the “sugar” holidays such as Valentines and Halloween, instead of stuffing themselves with sweets, the students take part in a community service activity. This past Halloween, the children all made individualized cards for the men overseas in Iraq. In addition to these activities in the classroom, students get together and serve our immediate community by going to the park and beaches to clean up the trash. Some of our past community service activities:
Food/Toy Drive
UNICEF Charity
Rainforest Adoption
Thank you cards to our Veterans
Clean up of local parks/beaches
